Snowball’s NFC mobile ticketing solution Transit on Board, has launched in over 30 public transport authorities, more than 110 cities and is accessed by a population of over 660m. It is the go-to ticketing solution in China.
Despite their phenomenal success, Snowball had virtually no visibility outside of China.
Upstartr were appointed to support Snowball's global launch.
They kicked off the project with several online workshops, first, to understand the global roll-out strategy, then to work through company brand positioning and aligning key messages for the new markets.
A talented, reliable and skilled pop up team was created in China and the UK to span brand, design, web, content, coding, stand build and press and PR.
Upstartr had to act quickly. Eight weeks across Christmas to set up the show, design the stand, create and print the marketing collateral, translate material and develop messages.
At the centre of the Snowball’s international rollout was a showcase launch at Transport Ticketing Global (TTG), the global destination event in the transport industry.
TTG needed stage management. There was a booth to design, signage to create as well as physical assets to design and produce. Balancing the visibility of the success in China with the capability to deliver elsewhere.
Showcasing an ‘international’ company and creating consistent brand profile.
Upstartr brought the team together for the showcase and helped maintain and staff the stand. We acted as an extension of the Snowball team to share their narrative with new international customers.
This included honing key messages, collating and writing new copy and overseeing design in the UK and development in China.
A new website was needed, from concept to launch in 5 weeks. Upstartr project managed the content, design and development.
Upstartr supported Snowball in the appointment of PR and marketing agencies outside of China, actively managing the tender process and appointment.
These agencies will help Snowball to roll-out their 2020 marketing plan as they continue to make a global name for themselves.
